Golden opportunities in Chad: exploration moves forward

Apart from significant quantities of oil exports, Chad’s mineral industries remain underdeveloped and under-explored. The only mineral currently exported from Chad is sodium carbonate, but it’s widely suggested that the country also boasts important deposits of gold, silver, diamonds, bauxite, granite, tin, uranium and more.

Last week, however, the mining world took notice as AIM-listed IronRidge Resources mobilised a 30-ton excavator to commence a trenching programme that is expected to continue until the end of Q1 2018 at its Dorothe Gold Project.

The trenching programme seeks to define grade, width and strike continuity of surface mineralised zones of the Dorothe deposit over a 1.8 x 1 km area, with 200 m trench spaces.

Dorothe is a high-grade gold target that has significant potential for scale, and is one of three key gold targets within IronRidge Resource’s Chad portfolio, the others being the Echbara and Am Ouchar Gold Projects. The company’s prospecting range covers a territory of 1 400 km² with vast potential for gold and other mineral projects in Chad.
