Project & mine development in RSA according to phase.

Each stage of a mine’s development requires specific equipment and services. Searching projects by lifecycle allows you to quickly and easily find the relevant projects in need of your solutions, with key contact information to put you in touch with relevant project personnel.

A summarised description of these phases includes:

  • Grassroots (22 projects): Generally conducted in under-explored areas, this phase confirms if the orebody is prospective or not.
  • Pre-Feasibility (18 projects): This stage provides valuable strategic information used by equipment and long-lead item manufacturers, assisting them in planning, management and control of their production lines.
  • Feasibility (31 projects): This includes resource improvement and often includes the planning of the mine, equipment to use and best process methods etc. For those looking for business opportunities, this stage also involves the tendering and contracting of the engineering procurement construction management (EPCM), or engineering procurement construction (EPC) and any other engineers/consultants required. Original equipment manufacturers, suppliers of goods and service providers use this stage to get their products and or services specified for the project.
  • Bankable (15 projects): Amongst other things, the architectural planning, design and consulting through EPCM / EPC are completed and go-ahead for construction given. Off-take, buy-outs, joint ventures and private investor agreements are concluded. Tendering process for the various goods and services specified continue, with contracts awarded to the successful tenderers.
  • Execution (25 projects): This stage deals mainly with civil work, construction and infrastructure at all levels. This phase is complete when the project is commissioned and goes into production.
  • Operational (206 projects): This indicates that the project is commissioned and production commences. This stage could assist AMIQ users by focusing on aftermarket like maintenance, repair or replacement services. The focus here for those seeking business opportunities are the key contacts.
  • Dormant (7 projects): This is when mine owners no longer find it viable to continue with development of certain projects, or to develop other projects prior to continuing with a current project. Sometimes markets negatively influences certain mineral types, deeming projects to move to this phase as they are no longer viable. Many of them could, however, be reconsidered in future should the market turn.
  • Dormant L/R (142 projects): this is when mine owners or exploration companies return a licence to government. Some reason include a lack of viability or insufficient funding, for example, but these mining projects could be further explored at a later stage.
  • Closed (17 projects): Once all ore has been extracted from a mine it is deemed closed, and is rehabilitated according to the prescribed method and standards specified by the environmental impact studies.
  • Completed: (41 Projects):
  • Consolidated: (28 Projects):
